Flowers

You can see the ruins from here
her fire still burns on the hill
She lives by the waters edge
in a world that is quiet and still
She says "Will you stay with me
I'll teach you all I know
In the outside world they still don't know
what makes the flowers grow"

The warm winds came and beckoned me
and soon I drifted her way
Tired and confused I made no sense
but she listened to what I had to say
Then I slept till the morning came
she told me I had to go
to find the truth and the secret of youth
and what makes the flowers grow

It's been a long and winding road
since I first saw her face
battered and bruised and disabused
I long to return to that place
but the maps have been burn't
and the lessons unlearnt
Oh, I've along way to go
'till I know the reasons why
and what makes the flowers grow
